Oil Will be the Future of Our Energy Production

While our government is pouring billions of dollars into impotent energy sources of corrupt Solar venture socialists, there are real enturopaners that are working on making American the Saudi Arabia of both oil and natural gas.  They are developing and revolutionizing fracking on the vast Bakken fields in North Dakota.  Stephen Moore put out a great article in the Weekend edition of the WSJ, detailing the success of Harald Hamm in developing the Bakken fields.

In the article, he references a conversation Mr. Hamm had with the president.  Here is how it went:

When it was Mr. Hamm's turn to talk briefly with President Obama, "I told him of the revolution in the oil and gas industry and how we have the capacity to produce enough oil to enable America to replace OPEC. I wanted to make sure he knew about this."
The president's reaction? "He turned to me and said, 'Oil and gas will be important for the next few years. But we need to go on to green and alternative energy. [Energy] Secretary [Steven] Chu has assured me that within five years, we can have a battery developed that will make a car with the equivalent of 130 miles per gallon.'" Mr. Hamm holds his head in his hands and says, "Even if you believed that, why would you want to stop oil and gas development? It was pretty disappointing."
Washington keeps "sticking a regulatory boot at our necks and then turns around and asks: 'Why aren't you creating more jobs,'" he says. He roils at the Interior Department delays of months and sometimes years to get permits for drilling. "These delays kill projects," he says. Even the Securities and Exchange Commission is now tightening the screws on the oil industry, requiring companies like Continental to report their production and federal royalties on thousands of individual leases under the Sarbanes-Oxley accounting rules. "I could go to jail because a local operator misreported the production in the field," he says.

It is men like Harold Hamm who truly embody the American spirit.  They don't receive any venture socialism monies from the government, yet the produce more than any of the corporate cronies could ever wish to accomplish.  Imagine how much more they could do if government would stop obstructing oil production.

The North Dakota Way is not the Chicago Way

Ever since Chuck Schumer commenced his campaign to taint the Tea Party as extremist, I have been attempting to conjure up an image of a government run by like minded 'extremists'.  North Dakota might be a good place to start.  Every major statewide elected office is run by a Republican.  Also, Republicans control the state Senate 35-12 and the state House 69-25.  In other words, there aren't too many politicians like Chuck Schumer running the show.  What are the results of such an extreme Republican government?  Here is a great summary from Carla Fried, posted at Yahoo Finance:

Lowest unemployment rate among the 50 states. North Dakota's 3.8 percent unemployment rate is less than half the national rate.• Statewide GDP growth of 3.9 percent ranked third in the nation in 2009 behind Oklahoma and Wyoming (2010's figures are not yet available.)
Best job growth last year. A Gallup survey reported that North Dakota businesses had the best ratio of hiring to firing among the 50 states.
Stable housing market. Across the nation, nearly 1 in 4 homeowners with a mortgage are underwater. In North Dakota, just 1 in 14 have negative equity, the fourth lowest negative-equity ratio among all the states. The state also has the third-lowest home foreclosure rate. Affordable homes are a big part of the story here; let's just say you don't need to overstretch to own. According to Zillow, the median home price in North Dakota is below $150,000. That's less than three times the state's median household income. By comparison, even after sharp post-bubble price declines, the median priced home in California is still about five times median household income.
Low violent crime rate. The incidence of violent crime per 100,000 residents in North Dakota in 2008 (latest available data) was the fourth lowest in the country and nearly 60 percent lower than the national average.
Lowest credit card default rate. According to TransUnion, North Dakotans seem to have a handle on spending within their means.
Add that all up and you have the makings for a pretty contended bunch. In fact, Gallup recently concluded that North Dakota is the third happiest state in the U.S., trailing only Hawaii and Wyoming.

ND Senate: Another Golden Conservative Opportunity

Last week, we stressed the importance of electing a Jim DeMint conservative to a vacant red state Senate seat in Texas.  The same applies in North Dakota after today's announcement by Kent Conrad that he will not seek reelection.  As with the Texas GOP primary, it is important that we identify the true conservative within the next month or so.  We must remember that the primaries occur much earlier during presidential elections.  This will preclude a chaotic primary in which the conservative vote could potentially be split, while handing the seat to a RINO.  It will also ensure that the GOP won't coronate an establishment candidate just because he has the most name recognition.  Keep in mind that there is no excuse for the "he can't win the general election" argument in a state like North Dakota, especially considering the thin Democrat farm team.

We will be providing comprehensive updates on both the Texas and North Dakota GOP primaries in order to identify and promote the authentic conservative.
